A memorandum of understanding was
signed between Apollo Group and CSC under the Department of Electronics
and Information Technology in Delhi. Apollo Hospitals started
telemedicine 13 years back, in an effort to bring healthcare closer to
patients of both urban and rural areas. Apollo Tele Health Services, a

with CSC.
This collaboration is aimed at
providing primary, preventive and primitive healthcare through tele
consultation to rural patients from telemedicine specialitycentres
situated within Apollo hospitals across various locations in the country
and will run virtual clinics for patients using telemedicine
technology. This is the first time in the country that healthcare
services are being delivered using information and communication
technology at a large scale.
Speaking on the occasion, Apollo
Hospitals, Executive Director, Sangria Reddy said that the group planned
to make healthcare available to more than 1,00,000 CSC centers using
telemedicine platform under its Rural Connect program.
The Common Services Centers Scheme,

doctors without having to be physically present at a clinic.
“We are proud to have
partnered with Apollo Hospitals in helping us realise the dream of
providing healthcare to one and all,” Common Services Centers Scheme
CEO, Dinesh Kumar Tyagi said.
India contributes to 16.5% of the
total global population and 1/5th of the world’s share of diseases. But
there is a marked inequality in healthcare provisioning between urban
and rural India, which is further enhanced by factors like geographical
and socio-economic barriers. The current healthcare system in rural
India is extremely rigid, amounting to inefficiency in responding to
local needs and realities.
Apollo Tele Health Services and the
“Common Service Centers Scheme” of the Department of Electronics and
Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communication & IT,
Government of India has come together to provide primary and second
opinion Tele consultation services to over 60000 village level CSCs in
India.
The Common Services Center (CSC)
Scheme is one of the key pillars of the ambitious National e-Governance
Plan (NeGP) of Government of India to digitally empower rural Citizens.
Apollo Tele Health Services is the valued partner for community health
care in the CSC program for the Government.
