Ferry Services

What is Ferry?

A ferry is a form of transport usually a boat, to carry (ferry) passengers and sometimes vehicles.

BENEFITS OF WATER TRANSPORT - ALL ARE AWARE BUT WHO WILL ACT?

  • Take carbon emissions for instance:
  • There is further savings of time (Man Hours) and fuel if the distance across water is less than the road or rail travel route.
  •  At Surat - Diu sea route is 10 times shorter than road, yet it has taken 25 years to start work.

Fast, Economical & Comfortable. Ferry Services across surat to diu

The fast, air-conditioned Catamaran Passenger ferry between surat and diu will be:
  • A tourists visiting to Diu and interested in visiting surat, within a limited time.
  • A novel experience for most Indians.
  • Attractive to fishermen, migrant labor & traders who will change over to this mode of transport, due to:
Savings in time and distance travelled, no overnight travel
Comfort and reliability at similar cost.

WHY A FERRY SERVICE?

Due to its particular geographical configuration, the area around the Gulf would benefit from the operation of a ferry service.
A ferry network will speed up travel between Saurashtra and south Gujarat with a reduction in distance for journeys around the gulf.
This is in line with the Port policy announced by the state government of Gujarat. The circuitous road distance around the gulf between the proposed terminals of surat and diu is about 540 Km.

The latest traffic information will be provided to all those bidding for the ferry service. It is expected that bidders will make use of this information besides making their own investigations, as they find necessary. The bidders will be expected to predict for themselves the likely type and level of vehicular and passenger numbers for this service.
